Finance Team Leader - International Freight Forwarding

Our client is a well-established, privately owned international freight forwarding company that has been successfully operating for over 30 years. Renowned for delivering exceptional customer service, they have built long-standing relationships with both clients and employees and continue to enjoy a strong reputation within the industry.

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Finance Team Leader to join their close-knit team. Reporting to the Financial Controller, this hands-on role will see you take responsibility for the day-to-day financial operations of the business while working closely with both local and overseas offices.

This is a varied role ideally suited to someone with previous freight forwarding finance experience who enjoys taking ownership and thrives within a collaborative team environment.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Management
  • Help lead the day-to-day operations of the accounting function.
  • Produce accurate weekly, monthly and management reports.
  • Prepare month-end accounts, journals, accruals and reconciliations.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management.
  • Produce weekly cash flow reports.
  • Ensure accurate revenue and cost allocation within CargoWise.
  • Reconcile and process monthly intercompany charges and payments.
  • Liaise with external accountants for annual tax compliance.
Compliance & Reporting
  • Support month-end and year-end financial close activities.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and internal controls.
Team & Business Support
  • Foster a collaborative and customer-focused team culture.
  • Provide financial support to operational and management teams.
  • Identify opportunities to improve finance processes and efficiencies.
About You
To be successful in this role you will possess:
  • Previous experience managing company accounts within the International Freight Forwarding industry (essential).
  • Strong knowledge of Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger and Profit & Loss reporting.
  • Experience managing international payments and foreign exchange transactions.
  • Experience using CargoWise One (highly regarded).
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing to a small, supportive team.
  • Full Australian working rights.
