how-do-i-get-a-job

Say you have just graduated and the world is your oyster. Or you have been in the same role for so long and are looking to mix things up. What do you do? How do you go about getting a job when you really have no idea where to start looking?

Once you decide to start your job search, your first point of call should be a professional recruitment agency. Recruitment agencies work with many different organisations that are looking to hiring.

So what does this mean for you?

Recruitment agencies are in the know, in every sense of the word. They know the what’s what and the who’s who in employment…right now. Engaging a recruitment agency in your career search might seem intimidating, but they can triple your chances of gaining a job in the twenty-first century.

It might be difficult at first to take that step, but if you want to increase your chances of finding employment in a field that best suits you, then a recruitment agency could be the way to go.

To get a job, you will obviously start by assessing what type of career you’re qualified for and interested in, from a broad perspective. From there, you might narrow down your criteria into more niche fields based on what your specific skills are and whether they’d be relevant to that field. A recruitment agency can assist with this as they know exactly what employers in a variety of fields are after in a potential employee.

From there, you will apply for a variety of jobs which appeal to you. As mentioned in a previous blog, if you work with a recruitment agency, they become the middle man in applying for and negotiating a job. They want what is best for you and the employer and will work with both parties to see that those needs are fulfilled.

Of course, then you have the interviews. For these, you must be prepared, enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the job you are interviewing for.  It may not be the job which you want to work at for the rest of your life, but if it is a stepping stone to bigger and better things, ensure that you still give it you all.

However, if you are rejected, you must try your best to remain positive. At times, it can be tough as the job market is tough. It can be draining and disheartening to receive a rejection – but don’t give up! Your perfect job could be just around the corner and you never know until you apply.

Some may feel that recruitment agencies may not be necessary when searching for a job, but if you want to make your search easier or shorter, they should be something that you look into. The people in the agencies are exactly that…people. They are there for you one hundred per cent and want you to succeed in your job search. They are trained professionals in the field of recruitment and can assist with your career search.

Whatever you end up doing, just be prepared and stay positive. Jobs are continually being listed and you just need to search. Refine your skills and resume and go ahead and apply – you never know!
